Since TexMet® it used across such a wide variety of applications, across several polishing steps, we felt it important to show you how this new cloth compares to our current TexMet® cloths: TexMet® 1500 and 2500.

Material Removal Rates
Material Removal Rate vs. Polishing Time
Although the material removal rate of competitor 2 cloth followed the same general trend as TexMet® 2500 and the new TexMet® – a sharp initial increase followed by a gradual decline – there was significantly more variance in the data. The same appeared to be true of Competitor 1’s cloth. Competitor 2’s cloth was the most aggressive of all the cloths in initial and intermediate material removal.

When polishing the Aluminum and Stainless Steel specimens shown, we followed standard SumMet® methods. It is clear that while both specimens have acceptable polishing quality, there are still a few faint scratches remaining on the specimen polished with competitor 2’s cloth.
